Imagine an exhibition in the making… 20 artists, 20 days. Each can freely modify the works and traces of previous interventions.

Bringing together 20 artists of diverse disciplines, generations and identities, “ON AURA au mieux les uns, les unes et tous les autres” is a site-specific exhibition project exploring the potential of contextual and collective creation. Artists take it in turns to make the exhibition their own, freely modifying the works and traces created by the interventions of their peers. It’s an exhibition in motion, lasting 20 days, which encourages a collective and original aesthetic, the final result of which is unknown to all.

More details

Following a first gallery experience at GHAM & DAFE in 2019, the ad hoc collective ON wishes to occupy a space – in times of pandemic, housing crisis and the relative inaccessibility of artists’ studios – that is sensitive to the current context of creation and dissemination for many artists: The apartment. The owners of the vacant apartment are artists Douglas and Laurie Scholes.

Each artist will have access to the exhibition space for 24 hours to carry out his or her work. The nature of the contribution is left up to each artist, and in order to ensure a diversity of artistic languages, interventions may be material or immaterial, ephemeral or perennial. Artists may act alone to add or remove elements to the exhibition, as well as alter or perform with what is already there. These “relay interventions” are not a simple sequence of artists, but rather a co-creation that requires participants to trust in the potential of plural creation.

The podcast

The On Aura podcast provides an insight into processual, performative or immaterial practices that take place outside art venues. This podcast takes an in-depth look at the creative process of the artists who took part in the “On Aura au mieux les uns, les unes et tous les autres” project, helping us to understand their approach by giving us access to the parameters or materials with which they compose.

You can listen to the podcast on Anchor, Spotify or Apple Podcast.
