Sound and video installation

In 1948, the Fine Arts Gallery was established in the basement of the University Library. Although it was intended that this space would be a temporary facility, it was not until 1995, after almost 50 years, that the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery opened.

The New Gallery files held in the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery Archives collect documents that relate to the planning and building of the present Gallery as well as to some prior attempts to petition the University to build a new art centre on campus. The words used in Untitled (Inside and Outside) were found in documents produced by Gallery employees and collected in these files.
